“The centre of Birmingham”. Victoria Square is home to both the town hall and the council house. It was renamed in 1901 to honour Queen Victoria and contains a bronze statue of the monarch. The square now also displays a controversial sculpture named “Iron Man” (by Antony Gormley) and a fountain sculpture representing youth and eternity, called 'The River' but known affectionately as 'The Floozie in the Jacuzzi'.
